Hey guys, quick question.. Who is everybody using for insurance on their rigs?? I currently have mine on my progressive policy (with my wife's car,) and I'm paying $111 a month for stated value of $8k. It is very high as when I had it only as liability, BOTH cars were under $80 a month... My truck is my daily, and as such, Hagerty or Grundy won't insure it... I want something a little more reasonable, and hopefully specialized, as I'm not sure if anything happens, that Progressive would be the best to cover it.

Any input is super helpful. Thank you guys!

I have all of my hot rods insured by Heacock Classics. They have been by far the best...and I had tried the other big ones before.

Are they pretty reasonable? And are you allowed to use the vehicle driving "to and from work, or as a daily driver?" Because that's the issue I'm running in to. None of the specialty places allow daily use.

See hagerty seemed like a good choice, but they still are for "occasional use." If something happens, I want to make damn sure my rig is covered as a daily driver...

They have many types of use and mileage coverages. Give them a call and explain what your intended use of the vehicle, etc. I have different use and mileage parameters for my cars, and it was no problem.

Buy a cheap daily. Put the truck on Hagerty. Insurance will be cheap on the daily, you don't need comprehensive. It will save you a ton of gas money. It will save you wear on the truck. Insurance on the truck will be under 100... for the YEAR.

I doubt any collector insurance will cover a daily driver , I know Hagerty wont .

I requested a quote from three companies. Balanced what you got for the money. I went with Grundy.

Had JC Taylor since 1981, just changed to Hagerty, better price and they will fully insure my trucks if I haul stuff or tow a trailer, as long as I had a primary tow vehicle. Had a small claim with JC Taylor once and they said fix it and send the bill, they sent me a check.

Thank you everybody for the input. I ended up going with Hagerty. 495 for the year, and a good mileage allowance. My wife and I commute together most of the week, but a few days I take the truck, and I do drive it daily. Looks like Hagerty will be the best choice for what I am working with right now. Again, this forum has the best people for input on here. Love seeing everybody's rides and amazing ideas!

What was the mileage allowance? Must be pretty good if you drive it daily.

I believe my State Farm agent will allow daily driving and "normal" mileage if we can agree on a stated value that will cover a total loss.

I had my truck insured with State Farm but moved it to Hagerty. Getting a decent value on it was next to impossible. Before having one of their people look at it, they were trying to value my truck at $1,000. Now my truck isn't the nicest on the block, but it's no rust bucket either. I'd say real value is around $15,000-$20,000. Their appraiser said $2,500.

With Hagerty, I have it on my father's policy with a few of his classic rigs and it costs $7/month for full coverage, valued at $23,000 and 3,500 miles a year.
Hagerty was pretty loose with use definitions too. I have a separate daily driver, so they didn't bother me much. I have more restrictions from the plate on it than the insurance.

My $0.02, forget trying to insure it with State Farm.

I need some dirt cheap, liability only insurance. I drive my 65 maybe 5 times a year.

I have State Farm, multicar policy,$25k agreed value, less thank $30/mo I believe. I can drive as much or as little. This is for full coverage/comp etc.

My State Farm agent wouldnt do much for me, they wanted me to put a good paint job on it before giving me any kind of policy. I was able to use them, but had to pay a policy premium almost as much as my 98 K1500...not happy. In MI we have no fault and our premiums are too high.
