Truck Step or Nerf Bar
I am curious if anyone is aware of a truck step or nerf bar that is available for our era of trucks. Part of my build was a 2" Tuff Country spring lift. After I got cab back on frame, it was apparent that my 2" lift was probably closer to 4 inches. I'm 6'1 and it's difficult for me to get in and out of truck. Short of a milk crate, I don't know how my wife will get in truck. I really like how the truck sits and looks, so I'm not that anxious to spend $ on new leaf springs that may or may not lower the truck to where I thought the 2"Tuff Country would have put it. I've searched the internet some, but can't find anything.

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
I have these, I stand on them all the time. No drilling into rockers! It's the main reason I got them, they use the body mount bolts and a couple holes in the frame. I think I was even able to use existing holes in the frame without drilling. I also have grab handles above the door and on the pillars.
I got them off Amazon a few years ago. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now that I see that picture posted it's not very good. I will try to find or take a better one if you are interested. They work for me, and I like the chrome

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
Jeffahart, Yes I'm interested. If it's not to much trouble I would love to see a few more pictures. How about a picture of their connection to frame and maybe a closer picture looking downward on them. I really like that they're chrome. Your truck looks great, what kind of lift? Thanks.

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
I see what you mean. I would have guessed your truck had a 4" lift.

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
Here's a few more pic perspectives and the mounting points. I choose these because they don't mount to rockers. If you jump on them they flex the body mounts. But for normal stepping they don't move. I'm thinking about fabricating some traction steps. If I do I will use the mounting hardware from these steps. The step bars bend way back to the frame. If you mount these and need body rubber, it's good time to replace those. What's the white stuff? I went through my L.O. a couple weeks ago. Note: white lithium grease on areas with metal to metal contact is a part of my maintenance lube order.

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
Not enough space for one more pics in last post. I use these grab handles every day. I have pillar handles also, but these get the most use by me for sure. I wrap in steering wheel tape.
Grab handles above door.

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
Also, regarding lift. I have 4" skyjacker softride in the front. Rear is ORD (Off Road Design) shackle flip with zero rates and stock springs. I am running 33"s on 17 inch wheels.

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
They really do look nice. And the funny thing is you forget about them and just naturally get used to them for getting in an out. Don't listen to the dribble on TV. Chrome will get you home. I choose chrome when it's appropriate and looks good. I ain't in the army no more... don't need tactical... need some good looks too! And chrome always looks good!

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
I was hoping they would fit on my blazer, I measured my 67 cab mounts and I get 41-1/2" Center to Center and 38" on the Blazer mounts.
Any chance of getting the center distance on the bars? Thanks, Mike |

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
Yes 42" or if I got underneath(I measured from above) it could be 41 1/2 like you said above. But definitely not 38"

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
jeffahart, Thanks for the info and pictures. When I follow the link you provided in your first post, I see a picture of the nerf bar, but not the mounting brackets. Did the mounting brackets come with nerf bar all as 1 package. The link makes no reference to what year or vehicle they will fit?

Re: Truck Step or Nerf Bar
jeffahart, I appreciate all the info you provided. I think these nerf bars look great and should solve my entry/exit issues. I should have my truck completed soon, finishing up a lot of small issues. Thanks again.
