What's needed for 22x12 and 22x10 wheels
Hi guys,
I've got a 67 C10 fleetside short that I'm starting a build on. First time building a C10. Would like some help with wheel/tire fitment. Wondering if I can wrangle 22x12 and 22x10 wheels onto it. I really like the American Racing Torq Thrust SL wheels. Can get them ordered in just about any offset/backspacing I need. For tires, I'm wanting to run 325-35-22 on the rear (22x12)....and 285-40-22 on the front (22x10). Can these fit? Any idea on the offset and backspacing that typically works with these size wheels? |

Re: What's needed for 22x12 and 22x10 wheels
Welcome to the board from TN.
First question - Are you planning to go really low and/or bag this truck? That's going to be key to the overall setup and in the end, happiness with your investment. Ideally you want to build the truck first, then fit the wheels to it, not order the wheels, hope they fit and adjust the truck to 'make it work' Wheels are pricey brother, I'll help you any way I can. Im under the impression you'll stay with the 6 lug pattern? Narrowing the rear end housing, or staying with the factory length? Wood bed floor in the truck, or metal bed floor?

cc-rider-
I can't answer your question, but welcome to the neighborhood. (We're about 30 miles apart)

Wasn’t planning on going really low with it. It’s dropped about 4” now. But I don’t want to slam it to the ground. I like a bit of a taller stance where the top of wheels are maybe even with the top of the fender opening. Going to do a 5 lug conversion. Can narrow the rear end if needed...but I suppose I’d rather not all things considered if the wheels will fit with stock length (its a 67 12 bolt which I believe are the narrowest of them) Metal bed in the back. |

Yeah, I'm just across the bridge, so less than 30 miles for sure. If I can get it running this winter (engine swap), maybe we can meet up sometime next spring!

One thing you need to consider are better brakes. When you go bigger with wheels the leverge they put on stock brakes make them less effective.

Re: What's needed for 22x12 and 22x10 wheels
As a previous member mentioned, it's going to depend heavily on what drop you have. I'm at about a 4" drop right now on my '68 and am running 22" wheels. I have 285/40s on a 22x9 rear and 265/35s on a 22x9 front. I don't think the 285/40 would fit on the front. Maybe, but it would be tight and would really fill up the wheel well. In the rear, the 22x12 is going to be close. You will definitely have to run a wider inner wheel tub. You may have to modify the outer half of the tub (the part that connects from the inner bedside to the outer sheetmetal). I completely removed this piece on my truck to fit my wheel setup.
