Installing 88 - 94 chev seat Questions

How hard is it to install an 88 - 94 bench seat in our pickups?

Can I use original sliding brackets, and bolt new seat to them?

How would the 88-94 brackets fit in our truck?

It is real simple. I like using the brackets that came with the 88-94 seat. You sit a tad higher but I prefer it myself. You line it up with the front two original seat holes. On the back you'll need a 1" spacer (I used a 3/4" to 1/2" pipe adapter). Drill two holes, and bolt it down good. I have compression washers on the underside for added strength.

If you slide the brackets back behind that hump where the factory seat mounts it wil make it lower and take the lean back out of it.

I have had full bench out of the 88-94 and the 60 40s and now a set of 40 40 buckets and mounted them all like this when i got the truck they were mounted like pictured above and for me 6'8 that didnt work too well so i checked it out and slid them back behind that hump and it lowered the seat about 2 inches and give more leg to steering wheel clearence.

I'm with 1972C10, I had to drill 4 holes, but I think it sits better.

your 6'8"? how the heck do you fit in the truck? im only 6' and i wish i could slide my seat back further.

Very Carefully.

I removed my gas tank from behind the seat wich gave me a few more clicks back on the seat Isnt really that bad For a long time my knee rubbed on the instruemnt cluster since i took the gas tank out it no longer rubs.

Are you guys talking about a 88-94 bench seat from a truck or from a full-size passenger car or from a van???

I want one already, and I have no idea what they look like!

Mine's from a Silverado. I'm sure all of these guys are talking pickup seats.

I cut and rewelded the seat brackets when I put the late model seat in so it would sit flat on the floor.
