The Survival of Goldie - 1979 Trans AM

Back in 1978 my wife had just got out of a abusive marriage and to give herself something good she got Goldie and has had it every scene.

This is not a build but the survival of Goldie. I will try to keep it as original as I can, but as we know time goes by slowly and time can can do so much.

Now we are up to date and I’m working on the interior, Goldie needed a new headliner.

The brown truck brought 3 boxes of parts. I let the carpet stand for 24 hours on the floor and now I’m starting to lay it in place.

I put the package tray in along with the trunk divider board. I’m going to give the carpet some more time to get flat.

Re: The Survival of Goldie - 1979 Trans AM

The carpet is laying out nice but as I work on Goldie I see all the door dings, this bugs me a lot so time for some PDR. I find the white line board works best on Gold paint.

Thanks,
The line board is used to find where the tool is as you push the dent out and to see the highs and lows of the dent.

Here you can see a dent.

Once the dent is removed the lines are straight.

I use two boards depending on the paint color. Learning to read the reflection board is the key.

Re: The Survival of Goldie - 1979 Trans AM

Nice , keep up the good work . Unfortunatly my 79' took 2 foot of water during the hurricane . The car was so clean before I didn't have the heart to cut it up . I ended up selling it to a buddy who has drag car plans for it .
