Looking for a thread
I came across this once and now I can't find it. My bench seat is in great condition, so i want to keep it.
I'm looking for a thread I found once showing a seat frame for AD trucks that not only folds forward but the bottom also folds up for under seat a access. If im right, it used the original seat, just different frame. Sound families?

Re: Looking for a thread
Yea the bottom part folded up like that and the back folded forward. Did you get that from a donor?

Re: Looking for a thread
Matt_50 I too have seen an article where someone modified the seat frame back to fold forward. Seems like it was on the H.A.M.B. before they deleted all the good stuff. I know I bookmarked it but as usual I can't find it. It was a simple mod. Don't know if I have seen one where the bottom folds up. Still looking. Clay

Re: Looking for a thread
That definitely is an option, a high dollar one. Not sure how you would put the stock skirts on it either.
The link I am looking for is a "how to" taking a stock AD seat frame and modifying it to make the back fold down. I have looked and looked without any success as yet. I did find a thread on Stovebolt that I will attach at the bottom. The person writing states he thinks it is a factory option. I don't believe it is a factory option or dealer option. The pictures show the seat tilted forward in the truck. At the bottom of the back is a retractable lap belt that I had not seen anywhere elso. Check the bottom left corner of the page on the link below to see what the mod would look like. I'm still looking. Clay http://s260.photobucket.com/user/SW_...?sort=3&page=1 |

Re: Looking for a thread
Glide is a very pricey option. I found something on stovebolt too where someone had used some gate hardware to have the back fold forward. I love that glide frame but man that's a lot. Clay54 I'm glad there is someone else who is looking for something similar.
The link you provided looks doable... unless someone has something easier. What's everyone's opinion on the bottom folding up like that in the glide frame?

Re: Looking for a thread
I think this is who you were looking for. http://www.hotrodseats.com/ No Idea of pricing but probably close to Glide.

Re: Looking for a thread
Well it's gonna be cold here for the next couple of days and since my "shop" is my back yard... I might play with the seat a bit. I've got the seat from my c10 donor, dog g okit a hold of it... And here's my AD seat too. I'm gonna strip the c10 seat to the frame and look it over.
Maybe I can shorten it and put AD seat on it... maybe I can Frankenstein a folding frame. I'd really like to have something like the above pic or "Marvins" seat frame. I guess we will see what happens. Side question. I'm starting to clean out the cab, that got me started on my seat..., anyway I'm gonna hit any and all surface rust with wire wheel. What about areas I can't get into? Like where headliner tucks in, there are cavities... could I spray some sort of rust converter in there?

Re: Looking for a thread
True those Glide frames are spendy but have a good upholstery done on one and you have one of the most comfortable seats you will ever find, I spent so much time sitting on one on display in their booth at a Goodguys show a few years ago I thought they were going to make me buy it.

Re: Looking for a thread
I'm wrapping up the install of an 03 Avalanche rear seat that folds that way. I'll try to get some pics tonight.

Re: Looking for a thread
I have been thinking about making the cushion fold up on my stock seat also. My plan is to get rid of the springs and switch to a plywood base with foam, like in this build:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=725080&page=3 I think it would be much easier to hinge this way and the foam would be a lot more comfortable than the springs.

Re: Looking for a thread
The Avalanche seats does what you want. Here’s what I’m working with on my 50. Pardon the mess, it’s a work in progress. Finishing up the shoulder belts, then relocate the E-brake lever.

I kinda like that! Can you show a pic of installing it? How's the width?
Those door panels look nice too. Where'd you buy em?

Re: Looking for a thread
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!
https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads...=95716&gonew=1 There are eight pictures in the 1st post, but go down to Zookeeper's post and he has put it in a slideshow. This is not the "how to" that I had mentioned in post 6 above but is a modification to the "how to" and you should be able to do it yourself if you so desire. Even though the thought has changed from back to fold down to bottom to fold up, I said I was still looking and I was determined to found it. Clay |

Re: Looking for a thread
Sweet! Looks very similar to the pics you showed before without the hardware added. My priority is to fold the back forward. Having the bottom pop up too is just a bonus.

I bought the door panels off Ebay a few years ago. The seller’s name is rrachal11, but I don’t see that he has any for for AD’s at the moment. He custom makes them so I’m sure if you sent him a message he’d make you a set. I believe I paid about $90 or so for them.
