Edelbrock AVS 2

anybody try the new edelbrock avs 2 carb? if so, how do you like it?

It sounds interesting - in that I could see how the "annular flow booster design" may deliver improved fuel atomization.


I also wonder, if it really is a superior method, if edelbrock couldn't build a replacement part to upgrade our current edelbrock carbs with "Downleg boosters" to "Annular boosters"

This has been discussed on here before. The "booster" is the accelerator pump, so it's only operating when you're pushing down on the pedal, not when you're holding it steady. I doubt you would see a great deal of improvement.

Interesting, this little gizmo is supposed to do the same thing, atomize the fuel spray. I did put it on my Eddy carb and it did seem to help on initial acceleration, not as much hesitation. Something to do with modern gas w/ethanol not atomizing as well.

Cheaper than a new carb.....

Accelerator pump nozzles are paired in front. The Booster Edelbrock is referring to is also called a Secondary Venturi. Not to be confused with primary and Secondary Throttle Bores. The Throttle bores, Primary & Secondary are called Primary Venturis. The Booster Ring is the Secondary Venturi.
The discharge from the Booster comes from the Main Fuel Jets, NOT the Accelerator Pump.

So, what's your thoughts on the advantages? Is there validity in Edelbrock's claims?

Elebrock is probably right. It most likely is an improvement but probably not that noticeable. If you have an avs 1 carb is it not mostly likely a good investment to "upgrade" to the avs 2. But what do I know? I have a quadrajet.

I agree with 71gmc even though I have no experience with either Edelbrock AVS.
I do have experience with the original Carter AVS on a Mopar and I have had a Carter AVS on my 292 for about 15 years. I like it much better than the original Carter AFB or the standard edelbrock.
