disk brakes

i have a 68 with 4 wheel drum, and a 81 with front disk. what parts do i need to take off to put the disk on the 68? thanks

I would unbolt the whole front crossmember. It will line up in the other truck except 2 holes on the side that need to be opened up. Then it's all in there and it's all together. That would be the easiest way since you have both trucks right there. Also, take the master cylinder and prop valve out of the donor truck for use in the other. Disc master cylinders and prop valves are different than the master cylinders and combo valves in the drum trucks.

do you know if a 83 impala booster and master cylinder will work. the donor didnt survive the fire!

It might work, but you will have to do some fabricating to make it fit right. I would get a new (used) booster from a junkyard from either a 73-87 or 71-72 truck. The master cylinder and prop valve are probably ok, just need a new booster.

Check on the parts board or PM "teeitup", has has a ton of stuff and may have the booster and bracket that you need to do the conversion. It beats the crap out of trying to make another part work.
