'62 C30 Bed Hoist
Yep I know it doesn't really qualify for a heavy Hauler but thought you guys might know more about this than the pickup crowd.
How do I operate the hoist on my 62 C30? I have this behind the cab: And this on the floor on the drivers side by the trans hump: I don't have a clue and don't want to goof something up. |

I've never seen one like that before, but one should be the Power Take Off and the other the Release Lever. I'm going to say that the PTO one is the one in the cab. I believe I would pull the Outside lever first, then with the trans in neutral, the engine running and the clutch in, pull the PTO lever up. You may hear it grind a little pretty much like you are putting a trans in first gear. Then release the clutch. The bed should go up. Once it is all the way up, push the PTO lever back down. Then to get the bed back down, slowly push down on the Outside lever.
Let us know how it works out. As for the pictures, I'm not very good at it myself.

Re: '62 C30 Bed Hoist
It was warm this afternoon so I went out and tinkered with it and got it running. Drained about 10+ gallons of rancid stinky gas out out of it and then hung my little gas tank and hose under the hood. Hand choke didn't work worth a darn but with a little squirt of gas in the carb it started right up and sounds like an old Chevy 6. The ring by the trans hump starts the driveshaft to the pump. The ring on the back of the cab when you pull it out the box goes up and push it in to go down. Only went about halfway up, I assume its low on fluid. What kind of oil should I dump in it? My old 2 cylinder John Deere uses ND-30 in the hydraulics, would that work in this too? Hopefully, as I have a bunch of it around here.
