Dash speakers with center AC vent?

Anyone have a good option for having under dash mounted speakers with the center AC duct and vent? I am planning to add AC and was planning on adding the center AC vent into my non factory AC truck, but it doesn't look like I can keep my center under dash speakers with the center vent.

Re: Dash speakers with center AC vent?

Various vendors carry replacement speakers for factory A/C trucks..... I would think any of them would work for your application. I went with p/n 69-864 from Classic Parts for my A/C truck.

Re: Dash speakers with center AC vent?

Having just installed center speakers in my non-AC dash with a stock radio I think at best you will be able to put in a pair of 2" tweeters with the AC hose in between them. Unless your up for cutting the dash.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Dash speakers with center AC vent?

Trust me the center ac out put is not never good.I have 9 trucks been trying for 11 years to make a decent speaker work.

Ken wood is suppose to be putting out a really flat speaker in 1-2 years that will have as much amps as a 12 inch and handle any kinda base.Only problem you will keep on cracking your front windshield. It will rattle your front dash so bad.But to the people that like Banging there car's or trucks to where the wheels fall off.

To you people invest in hearing aides. They have not found away to put them hairs back in your Ear's Dummy's.

But I've gotten my none Air truck with the side vents my trucks gets super cold and the heat in the winter time dose just fine.

Plus we don't have the problems that the new trucks have do to we don't have extended cab's.

Trust me the Old R12 use to freeze you.The 134 is Ok dose a good job But this new stuff really makes you want to put a coat on.

So the center Vent Over rated.

I like my tones an the Ken wood 2 small speakers that are 200w each do just fine.Remember to put one of them black felt over the speakers of the sun will eat EM.

There is a really nice write up in the "audio" section of this website on building center speakers. Usually uses a couple of 3 1/2 inch speakers and making a custom mount... You should look it up. I would copy and post the thread for you if I were technically capable. It can be accomplished though. Retrosound makes a single speaker with two tweeters that is supposed to give 2 channel sound from one speaker. I bought one, then didn't use it due to my set up. There are options out there... Good Luck and have fun with your truck!

I just ran my vintage air duct hoses last weekend and was thinking what you are probably thinking. What the heck fits? I don't have a radio in mine (Factory delete) but I did notice how tight it all was.

Re: Dash speakers with center AC vent?

How tight it was, brings back a old sayings! I did the same classic truck radio speaker , its now on the shelf and a electro tech speaker is back in the factory am radio is in too, somebody cut holes in the doors already, so the pioneers 6x9 went there, the pioneer FM 8-track went under the dash. The 8-track works great too. Now thats old school !!!

Brothers makes an A/C center vent housing that is supposed to be an upgrade to increase air flow. I don't know if it also helps out in the room department behind the dash, but I am going to probably use one when I install my Vintage Air kit this spring. Might be worth checking into.

Talking Re: Dash speakers with center AC vent?

Well I'm here to tell you that yes you can have a good set of speakers in the center of the dash with AC and it sounds awesome too. Yes the room is tight but it will work just fine.
Like before read the post I linked.
Knowing how to do it is the key.
