Yes you can shim the body, but I would check your body mounts, door hinges, the pin is not to hard to replace. Then try to adjust the door and striker. Sometimes the problem is rotten pillar base and cab support, it will cause the Jimmy to sag. It is hard to tell what might be bad under the rocker panels.

i don't think I've seen a door shimmed before, cowl and fender, yes. But like Jimmy said check the body for rust especially the under side.

shims under the body or the shim-like things that are on the body in the door way.

what I did was use a flat washers and cut a slot from the outter edge to the center hole, that way all I needed to do was loosen up the bolt (not remove it) and slide the washer in. Some of the bolts are welded in and if you have carpet you would have to remove things to get them out...so try the "C" washer...

most auto parts store carry shim. Any local automotive paint shop should have them and different sizes in thickness.

Just got in the house from shimming body mounts 2 & 3 to get the doors to close properley. I had changed them all and fastened her all up to find the doors did not close to well. The old mounts were very bad some the bolts were just rattling around in there but the doors did close with out a hitch.

the GM book talks to shims to the mounts during the initial build process for door alignment so even with perfect inner rocker boxes, you may have to shim with new rubber mounts!!!
