73-80 bed on a 81-87.

Will a 73-80 bed bolt right onto a 81-87? I need a new bed for the bucket and figured maybe I'd switch to the step side bed.

If it will what mods would have to be done to the fuel filler tube if any?

It will bolt up they are the same, except most of the new 81-87 has the gas flap doors and the older ones just have the round whole cut out.

But the bed will fit on a newer one, or a newer one on a old one.

The fill tubes on the '81-87 are smaller than the 73-80 ( you need to use the one specific to the tank). Knowing your skills I am confident you can get it to work, so just use the fill tube in yours. 73-78 has the gas tank on the passenger side wiht an exposed cap, 79-up have it on the drivers with a door.

Good to know. I found a decent bed on ebay that's decently priced right now and it's not too far. The wood floor is toast but that's something I would replace anyway.

I’m not worried about the fuel filler hole as that would get shaved anyway.

This one has the passenger filler and that's good because the tank I have is the passenger.
