C20 wheels/tires suggestions/thoughts?
I've got a '68 C20 that I plan on lowering (currently thinking 2.5/4) and wondering about wheels/tires.
What's out there in a diameter greater than 16" and less than 20" ?(along with readily available tires in whatever diameter)? I believe the factory size wheels on the C20's ('68) was 16.5x6 8-lug. I would like the wheels/tires to fit/fill the well with the lowering I have planned (2.5/4) and I'm thinking of black rims. I like the look of the Detroit 8-lug Steelies, but I believe they are only available in 20", and I think I'd like more sidewall in the tire than I'd get going that route. I also know there are steel F*rd rims 16x7 that would work. SO, what's out there that in somewhere in the 17/18" range 8-lug wheel? Pics would greatly be appreciated Thanks, Kevin Here's the truck now (and I plan on keeping the patina look) |

I think you can find wheels in that 17 or 18 inch range, it may be tires that make your choice. If you decide on a tire height, you can probably use the online tire calculators to see what matches that height, and work backwards once you find tires you like. Search some of the other posts here too, as there are a lot of threads about tires and wheels.

Jim, Thanks for your reply. ...and just as you noted, I am finding out. It's the TIRES (availability/cost) that are driving a major part of my wheel decision. I have found a few great threads on wheels, as well this tire size calculator: https://tiresize.com/calculator/ Along with the size you put in, it provides a list of alternate sizes around what you pick. Furthermore, it gives you a list of sellers that have that size and cost, which is a quick idea if the size is common (readily available) or not. Last edited by KevinK7; 03-24-2018 at 08:35 AM. |
