It's classic and tasteful but has all of the good stuff too. Respects the heritage but is going to be a killer performer. Nothing but respect and admiration from me.

Re: Finally...
HaHa... You guys are all just too quick for an old man like me! Yup, I bought the Camaro in the dead of winter here. Putting the floor in, and have decided to do both rear quarters, outer wheelhouses, and the rear tail panel. Will likely take a year or more to get the body sound. But, my first car was a '70 Camaro, and I've always loved them, plus I'm not getting any younger so what the heck, yes I've started building one.
I won't replace my truck, which I really love driving and showing. But, this way I'll have each so whatever mood I'm in, I'll have a vehicle for it. One more to show the new dash top, and then I'll leave this forum back to the trucks!!! Final question? For the Camaro, LeMans Blue (GM 71) or Camaro Gold (GM 53). I can't decide... Re: Finally...
Lemans Blue is a great color, ...however it's so common. I'd say go for the gold ...it's nostalgic

Re: Finally...
Beautiful job my friend. I think we might have been twins separated at birth or something. I want a 2nd Gen Camaro too. (Autocross car, 335s, Forgelines, mini tubs, Detroit Speed stuff, LS, etc etc.. ) That will be my next one.

Re: Finally...
What was the original color for the Camaro? Or what color was your 70?

Re: Finally...
Chad: "Twin Sons of Different Mothers".... Funny, I think all of us on here likely have similar interests. Thanks for the kind words, hope to meet you in July at the C10 Show in Hendersonville!
And to Trucknut57: My first Camaro started out blue with a black vinyl top, but wound up black over black. Then black and rust.... And this one was originally blue as well, also with a vinyl top. It will most definitely NOT have a vinyl top when I'm finished with it... And part of me wants to go blue, but there ARE so many blue 2nd Gen Camaros running around... And, I really do love the color on my truck and GM 53 is a beautiful color... So, I'm having trouble deciding. Will do 4 spray-outs this weekend, hopefully the wife and I can decide on a color. Heck, may even do a red spray out, haven't built a red car in nearly two decades... I appreciate the input guys! |

Re: Finally...
You also have Autumn Gold GM58 as another option.
Stripes or no stripes?

Re: Finally...
Yes, I considered that, but it's a little too deep or dark a color for my taste...
I have seen a resto-mod done that color, and it was killer. But I always do things a little closer to at least looking stock... just suits my tastes better. Good suggestion though! Thanks!! |

My first car was a 69 Camaro, then sold it and bought 70, Big block, TH400, 12-Bolt 3.73 car, would annihilate a set of rear tires in a afternoon! And was a thirsty beast! Biggest laugh was seeing my mother driving away from the house in it, chirping 2nd at every shift! When she got back from the store, was telling me all the people waving, yelling "wanna race?" and "Nice Car!" at her. Good times.... back in 1980 z28.com is another site, great group of guys, low on members at the moment, and no "cliques", no bs, just help. I'm MikeyZ28SS over there. Good luck on the Camaro Resto-mod, I'm sure it'll be amazing Mike
