Lexus seats for 72 Blazer

A friend of mine has some seats out of a Lexus he wants to get rid of, but I can't decide if these seats will work in my '72 blazer. Has anybody tried these or can think of any issues that may arise from trying to put these in?

The only thing I can think of is seat angle and electrical adaptation. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I really don't think I'll use the rear seat, but the buckets look nice.

Thx.

Nice buckets, but they don't belong in a Blazer, IMO.

Access to the rear seat is one issue I can think of.

Re: Lexus seats for 72 Blazer

electrical connection shouldnt be a big deal... most are just 12volt... better if you have the plug so you can unplug them easily... but if not im sure you can figure something out...

Ok, I think we've settled the fact that these lexus seats will not work both practically and ethically .

My question now is: What seats work best in these blazers? I've seen a lot of Tahoes and Sub's, but is there a year that is the best? Mounting, seat belts, ride height, etc.

Just a thought... if you like them... run them... Its your truck...
There are always going to be people that mod every last bolt and others than prefer everything totally untouched and stock... But ultimately its your decision...

Re: Lexus seats for 72 Blazer

00-06 GM fullsize fronts and 3rd rows (for use as the back seat in a K5) are a popular swap. They have integrated 3 point seat belts so that's good for the safety factor. They can be sourced fairly easily from junkyards. I picked up a power front set and 3rd row for ~$300. If you google this swap you can see how others have done it. Might use the tracks from my stock passenger flip up seat for ease of access to the back seat. Still TBD, i need to get the seat in and see how far up it will go with the power first. GM fullsize seats 07+ are also popular but don't have the integrated 3 point seat belt so you'll have to have something for the shoulder harness to attach to if you want to run 3 pt seat belts

Scroll down on this post from my blazer build for how I used previous generation suburban seats.

Re: Lexus seats for 72 Blazer

I would do it. Something different and they are comfy seats. I have Tahoe front seats and eventually will install the 3rd row in the rear but the Tahoes don't give me very easy access to the rear seats except for my kids to crawl over the front to the middle.

Very nice work on the seat frames, just learning how to weld steel here. Aluminum welding is a dream of mine for down the road. I removed the hold down mounts from the same suburban my 3rd row came out of. Plan to use those and bolt to the floor. Ebay has versions of 3rd row mounts as well but a little pricey. In the end they all should work

Re: Lexus seats for 72 Blazer

Nice job! I always like the front seats you have. Are they comfy? I'm planning on doing the 67-68 front nose on my blazer too. I like the look.

Thanks. Yea they're pretty comfy. Just did a 600 mile road trip in them this past weekend.
