Grant hinges

bought some basic grant hinges (like 5 yrs ago) to use on my suburban and im finally putting them on. i followed 5windowpickup's thread since he used them. mine did not come out near as clean as his. very hard area to weld and u need precision measuring for it to be flawless like his, there is no template. with that being said, i got mine welded in and the hood actually closes, opens, and latches perfect. my issue is when i when inopen and close it, then skin that the hinge is welded to flexes a little...

im not sure if this is normal...but i dont see any other way to run it like this. unless i weld a supporting bracket from behind the skin to the other side of the cowl.

just wanting to get anyones thoughts or see if anyone else had this issue. thanks!
