NOS vs Repro 72 Grille? Worth 3x the $$$

Finally getting around to replacing my badly dented repro grille outer grille. Is it worth spending 3 times the money for a NOS outer vs. $325 for an aluminum from LMC or Brothers?

Are the NOS steel or aluminum?

Thanks,

Craig

NOS is aluminum with a anodized finish. I would go that route if doing a resto. For a Daily Driver stick with Used OEM, or go aftermarket.

Thanks. Good advice.

I have semi-restored the truck, interior, suspension, etc, but use it to haul wood chips, fertilizer, and act as Grampa's Delivery Service for my daughter and her husband. It's certainly not a show truck or something I'm driving to Cars and Coffee.

I would hate to see that front end loader operator hit the wrong handle and have that bucket nick that gorgeous paint

Re: NOS vs Repro 72 Grille? Worth 3x the $$$

Awhile back I passed up a nos, in the orig packaging inner & outer grille for my '72 Blazer for $1000. I knew it was a good deal from a friend but I couldn't justify spending the money for my hobby/toy. Everybody's finances are different & unfortunately mine are pretty tight.
I looked at pictures of your truck on previous posts..... I'd surely drive it to cars & coffee or shows if it was mine. NICE TRUCK !!! I take both of mine to non-judged shows and cruise ins. Both are just "nice drivers" with plenty of flaws, but a lot of people seem to enjoy seeing them.

Unless your truck is garage furniture, I wouldn’t spend the cash on NOS. I’d get a decent used oem and have a shop restore/polish it. I did mine several years ago and would go that route again. It was less money than a repro in the end and no question about aftermarket fitment came into play.

Like Led Zepp, I would not spend the extra money on an NSS.
I don't think most people can tell the difference and most restorations that you see do not, in all likelihood, have an NOS grill in that restoration.
Again, unless you are looking closely you probably won't see the difference, nor will anyone else..

Just my two bits.....

All good

I replaced mine with repop from key parts.
Was actually a real nice fit.

I would not spend the extra for the NOS, but I also wouldn't hesitate to drive that truck to Cars N Coffee! At least around here, our C&C has a little of everything, from exotics to rat rods, to muscle cars to japanese cars, to european sports sedans, to jeeps to trucks.

Yeah, you live in Virginia...Where you can still hunt, fish, avoid tofu burgers and kale, and get to know your neighbors. Right now, where I live Southern California, the local Cars n Coffee is 90% gloss gold wrapped Lamborghini's and red Ferrari's leased by silk shirts, gold chains, and heavy foreign accents. In 18 months when my wife and I retire back to South Carolina, I will drive my truck to Cars N Coffee.

It's not that I'm embarrassed about my truck. I just don't like the people that go to it.
