71 LWB build (Charlie Brown)

Hi everyone! My girlfriend decided to buy a 71 C10 to replace her S4. Figured I'd start documenting the transformation. Her plan is to make it a nice daily driver.

Before the drive from Santa Cruz to San Francisco

On the way to Dog Park

Out in Ghiradelli Square

Picked up an LQ4 & 4L80e

Complete OEM harness

The plan is to knock out all the mechanical stuff then do the pretty stuff. Color options are dark olive, sandalwood, or black.

Thank you!

Some random cleaning & disassembly pictures. We have a giant crab cooker at work, makes quick work of the grime.

Before:

After:

Removed accessories from engine. Debating on painting it Chevy Orange. Any paint brand/process recommendations? Considering VHT or Aerospray.

From one run through the crab cooker. I may media blast em prior to paint.

I dont use rattle can for anything now. Eastwood has engine paint that is 2k you can get in a spray can if you dont have access to a compressor.

Re: 71 LWB build (Charlie Brown)

Did a little more tidying today & AAW harness came in.

Before:

After:

The guy I bought it from said the engine was rebuilt. I took a peek through the spark plug bore and can still see the part numbers on top of the pistons and found a few reman tags on the motor.

I know theres nothing groundbreaking here but hopefully it starts to get more exciting once the tank, motor mounts, headers, & engine orange paint arrive. Gonna start installing the AAW harness soon as I move another project into storage. Give me more tinkering room.

Re: 71 LWB build (Charlie Brown)

As parts have been arriving for the swap. I was able to pick up a swb frame. Going to mock everything up, have the motor fire up, figure out suspension, and take everything back apart.
