HELP - Finding Asrovan Seat

Hey all, Im from New Zealand and use a freight forwarder in Lomita CA to ship me parts.

I have been trying to locate an Astrovan 2nd row bench seat from a 92-96 (i think it was). I have attached a picture to show you one I have seen in a 58 (same as what Im building).

Does anyone know any dismantlers/wrecking yards that specialize in Astros in Central or lower CA.

Ive been trying Craigslist and ebay but Im only finding stuff in north CA and it would cost me o much to get to my forwarder or to have him pick up for me.

Any help , or do you have one you ould part with for me .... Ild prefer the leather of vinyl over fabric.....

Use this site to access wrecking yard inventories throughout the US. You can select the state you want, then specify the part:

I can only but ask. I have a feeling he travels regularly to Bakersfield for some reason which is almost fresno (i think).
Im guessing you have or know of a fabric one?

Re: HELP - Finding Asrovan Seat

fabric tends to be more plentiful. Bakersfield is a bit of a haul for me, about 3 hrs one way.

Here is one in northern California (San Francisco bay area). He is selling both the middle and third row seats.

Re: HELP - Finding Asrovan Seat

One of the local wrecking yards usually has several of those vans in the yard at any time.Problem is that here locally they usually get pretty ragged out inside.

Instead of looking for an Astrovan seat and paying for the shipping I'd say you are better off looking for a seat from a donor comon to your area. a quick search shows that the Astro van seat is 53 inches wide. There should be something there with a simiar width rear seat that is a close match.

Re: HELP - Finding Asrovan Seat

thanks for the links guys.

mrchev - since the mid 90s we really have only had imports in nz. the main thing a bench seat would be in is like a Toyota estima or Honda equivalent unless you look at a hiaceace van but they sit over the engine... definitely nothing with a fold down tray let alone arm rests.

I thought the seats I wanted were from the earlier 91-95 model but looking at that it seems to be from the later 96-on. that will change what im looking for and possibly open up a few more options

guess ill keep trying until one turns up local.

Re: HELP - Finding Asrovan Seat

We have a few guys in the LA area and Lomita appears to be at the south end of the LA metro area.

The best thing would be for someone in that area find you a seat and check it over. Second best would be for someone in that area to name a wrecking yard close to your shipper that they know is straight arrow and reliable.

The wrecking yard may have to deliver or have it delivered to your shipper as some of those places don't allow individuals to make deliveries. Having one shipped to there from out of state or out of LA would probably cost more than the seat and maybe more than shipping it from there to you.

Re: HELP - Finding Asrovan Seat

Lomita is near the ports I think, west of long beach.... Map attached.

my forwarder will collect but charges me by the hour

Don from Flatout did one of my deliveries ok but most of the stuff I purchase is new and couriered by ups/dhl etc.

----

at this stage I need to confirm what years they come from and I can start emailing again.
