Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Fixed the horns and signal self canceler Bought a new turn signal switch but didn't like the modern 4 way button and using an adapter to my wiring. So I took parts from the new one to fix the original. Just needed the spring under the horn contact and the spring for the self cancel. New springs and all is good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

1. Finished installing the transmission controller and wiring. 2. put the seat and carpet back in. 3. Glued the rear view mirror bracket on three times. ( It came off twice when I went to put the mirror on), ( 90 degrees and raining here today ). 4. Then I started taking out the plywood bed the PO put in, so I can rebuild the differential, install a top mount rear sway bar, and install a real wood bed.

Degrease and power wash the engine bay of the “Redheaded Stepchild”. Next is to detail in anticipation of the up coming 327 rebuild.

I bought one at Walmart on sale with a crushed box and I never put it on, but then again I've never washed my truck.

Hauled the bug home from getting the electricals fixed. It now has lights. Once I finish the interior and flip it, time to get the body work done on the truck to paint it.

Removed the box to freshen up the paint on the frame. Dimpled and test fit the power steering box prior to frame paint.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

New bearings on the drivers side rotor. And new tires all around. Amazing that they looked great on the outside but in the back side cracked like all hell. But the DOT code was the 42 week of 2010 so they were done. Should have looked when I bought it could have knocked a little off the price

I knocked off all but one old mount from the flatbed. The last one is welded in multiple places & I need to buy a cutoff wheel.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I didn't do anything to my truck but was on the way home and the City had blocked off a main intersection for road repairs so I went down a back alley and lo and behold there was 68/69 GMC with a canopy sitting in a back yard with 90's Lincoln in fornt of it. Wife was with me so I'll go do some investigation when I'm alone and yes I'll get pics..

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Went to check the cam lash and found it would not move at all without deflecting the cover. I have not a clue what might have caused this. Cover comes back off and it will be adjusted again. Gasket was destroyed so now I have another set of waterpump gaskets and a front seal! Yay!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

New ride & Blue ride pic as promised....really happy with the '98...need to diagnose a warm engine hesitation & all will be good in the hood
Getting Raymond's timing chain & gears replaced will take care of that nasty disturbance in the force, as well

Not today but Thursday I met my buddy from Illinois at the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville Ky. Had a real good weekend. His saddle colored 68 with the old topper is very cool.
