1972 C20 Cheyenne Brake Hose

Hello, this is my first post so bear with me, I am looking for a set of front brake hoses for my 72 C20. I am running factory disc brakes in the front. Rock auto only lists a dorman part #H380712 and H380713 as replacements. Has anyone replaced their brake hoses using these parts and can you confirm if these will work or not? Any other sources that I should check to find these parts?

Just did a complete front end rebuild on our '72 C20 Custom Camper. All the front brake hoses I found would not fit because the tabs on the cross member is thicker than most. My solution was to cut new grooves for the retainer clips on the hoses themselves. Others have cut the tabs off and welded new thinner tabs on. In the last two pics you can see the difference in where the clips attach. Hope this helps.

Sweet ride! What was your method for cutting the grooves in the hose end fittings? Did you end up using the dorman hoses or a different set? If you used a different set would you be able to share the part numbers?

The parts I'm using are from various sources, but all funneled through Ted's Rod Shop in Riverside CA. Just looked at my receipt and it's not broken down to which vendor its from. There are quite a few threads here on the board that cover this problem. They too did not have a correct P/N for brake hoses that would work that I could find. After more searching I gave up and made the modification mentioned. What I did is measured how far back the new groove needed to be. Marked it with a sharpie all the way around. Clamped in the bench vise right next to the jaw. Using the jaw as a surface for the side of the hack saw blade to ride against, carefully started the cut on the new groove. To make sure I didn't go to deep, I used the back end of a caliper and took measurements of groove depth. As the end of the brake hose is not symmetrical, I took measurements all the way around correlating to the same place on the new hose. Get close to the right depth and work your way around checking for depth as you go. The snap clip is a little wider than the groove the hack saw blade will leave. I then took a small flat jewelers type file and widened it up until a nice fit and finished the depth. Took approx. 30 min. each, but I didn't have to cut and weld. The final installation went as factory. This is not the only solution, but it worked for me. This is pic of when we found our truck on Craigslist. It'll still be a C20 when we're done. Just a little closer to the ground. Good Luck.
