Jeepster376 wins guru contest
Jeepster376 you win the guru contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is update from previous guru needed post on carb problem I pulled the carb back off and it has black exhaust on the bottom of the carb plates. exhaust is getting back in! I ran the numbers on my intake and this is what it lists 1969 -3927184350 - 4bbl- iron - Qjet A B F X Y/255,300,350HP, srv. rep. It had corvette valve covers on it when I got it but seems maybe they used a corvette intake as well. I know it's not the original engine in the truck No idea on the block or heads but I am sure this is what is causing the problem!!! Now how do I fix this? I hate to go in and ask for a 1969 corvette carb! Also hate to ruin this intake as it may be of value by pluging the exhaust ports in it under carb Any ideas what carb i should ask for that has the exhaust port setup under the front of the carb by the mixture screws? or do I just replace manifold with a more stock setup?

Cool, what do I win.
The manifold I had like that was a 69 also. If you can't get the right carb for that kind of manifold, I was able to tap the holes and screw 1/8" allen head pipe plugs in there, they always could be removed later if needed. A carb spacer plate may also solve your problem by covering over the whole groove.

I believe they make a plate that will completely cover the passage. It is only about 1/8" thick. I had the same problem on my 67 back in 1978, Man that was a long time ago. I have not idea where I got it.

Plug the 2 holes like stated before and make shure you get the correct base gasket. It has a little bump on one side. What it calls for is a gasket, metal shim and another gasket. I think Mr Gasket sells a heat insulating base gasket and its several shims and gaskets. You can get that and just use what you need. I think you just have to drill a hole in the gaskets. Good luck
