Anyone use this stuff to paint cast iron manifolds?
I have read about using Blaster dry graphite lube to coat exhaust manidolds.
https://www.shop.com/Blaster+Dry+Fil...yABEgLP3fD_BwE I have used anti-seize out of the brush-on-bottle with great results. It lasts forever but the color is off (too silvery) https://www.google.com/search?client...70311466850898 I have applied the BLASTER to my new build, but haven't fired it up as of yet. It goes on easy, looks great so far, and is CHEAP! I'm gonna give it a shot, what the heck. Lots of info on the interwebs about using this stuff it. Just wondering if anybody has any first hand experience. Slip-plate would be another way to go but they had the BLASTER at the local ACE hardware. ( I like to shop locally) https://www.google.com/search?client...64.DsIIpkTtV8g Last edited by Greasey Harley; 09-23-2018 at 04:01 AM. |

Re: Anyone use this stuff to paint cast iron manifolds?
I've never tried using the dry moly as an exhaust coating, however I have had some over-spray hit mufflers of heavy equipment and it sticks around quite a while. I love the stuff for lubrication of hatch latches, grader circles and moldboards, etc.
https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C...39.ZT8KfyW8Zhc The Loctite version certifies anti-seize protection above 2000*F. Might be an option. This is the product I regularly use at work.

I used something called calyx (spelling?) on a 69 Corvette manifolds. It looked fine until moisture or road splash got on it when hot and it boiled off and rusted. Tha Calyx was some kind of graphite I think.

Re: Anyone use this stuff to paint cast iron manifolds?
I've never heard of using this stuff on exhaust manifolds. Have I been missing something all these years? Sure sounds a lot easier than using coatings specifically designed for cast iron manifolds.. therefore, it MUST be too good to be true ha, just kidding. Would love to see some pics of some if there are any - curious what it looks like when just recently coated and what it looks like after a year.

I could show you the ram-horns that I coated with anti-seize about 4 years ago (20k miles) that are still holding up great. ...but again, I don't know how to post images. |

click post reply (not quick reply), click on the paper clip in the entry window, "browse" then "upload" (up to 5 times) and then "close this window". Pics will show up when you post.
