69 c10 I6 to LS help!!

I currently have an inline 6 with a 350 turbo. I want to swap it out for an LS, but not sure which is a good, easy fit. I would like it for fuel economy and would once in a while show off its power.

Which LS is an easy transfer?
Do i swap The trans?
Any videos you can recommend?

Any help will do, Thank You!

Hello,

In the Engine & Drivetrain section of the forum there is a sub-section called LSx Swaps. You can get a lot of good info there.

I would recommend the thread called "1968 C10 5.3 swap, the easy way" by vannatta20

But to answer your questions...I would vote the 5.3 LM7 truck motor to be the easiest (and most affordable) swap. I would look for a 2003-06.

Your best bet is to buy the motor, trans, wire harness, pedal assembly, and ECU as one package.

Re: 69 c10 I6 to LS help!!

I have had good results with 5.3 swaps but I go about it slightly differently to most...

I look for a written off 2000 on pickup and use it as a parts donor.....you get all the hardware and electronics...plus you can sell off the rest of the donor to recoup some of your costs...

Look for a 2WD truck if your project is a 2wd....

4WD projects can be more daunting and 2000 on donors usually have the 800 series style front drivelines...

There has been some movement with builders putting early sheet metal on the late chassis units...but it is much more work than it appears on the surface.

I plan on the same technique. Lots of Chevy Tahoe's for a good price also.
