Re: Torsion box cut out?
Does anyone have any advice on removing my old one w/o damaging the frame? Or are there threads (that I haven't found) showing that?
My left one was removed by the PO to install a poor fuel tank install and the right one is rusted through.

Re: Torsion box cut out?
It doesnt attach to the frame at all. It's only a body/tub brace.

Re: Torsion box cut out?
Got ya. I was just concerned about cutting those welds in the oval holes without damaging the tub/brace.

Re: Torsion box cut out?
Sure, i get it you dont want to muck up the floor/other panels it's welded to - well just like cutting/grinding into any weld to separate two panels do your best not to get into the panel you DONT want to cut/remove.
Patience is your friend. Grind some, check the progress. repeat. Also having some sharp chisels or other tools to help pry on the torsion box/show you where the weld is still hanging on is helpful. |

Re: Torsion box cut out?
Removing mine was a combination of 4" grinder with cutoff wheels, sawzall, hammer and chisel, bloody knuckles, and much cussing.
Have fun! Rg

Re: Torsion box cut out?
I took this pic soon after I pulled the tank the PO put in. It hung down 3+ inches from the bottom of the truck.
Soon, I get to remove the flimsy fuel door. Anyone interested in an aux fuel tank setup?

Re: Torsion box cut out?
Someone was looking for a fuel door over on the truck forum a week or two ago.
