Suspension kept bouncing.

There are these rail road tracks that I've crossed over going the speed limit (40 mph) and they are angled, but a couple times I've noticed that the driver side will keep bouncing like I'm still going over bumps. It doesn't always do it but the few times it has it doesn't always stop until I've slowed down a little, maybe 100 ft after crossing. Anyone have any ideas what's up?

Re: Suspension kept bouncing.

your shocks most likly need replacement the one on the drive side from what you explain might show oil running down on the exterior of the shock tube , there are a few tests to confirm this ,

Re: Suspension kept bouncing.

Also check the upper shock mount stud where it goes thru the chassis rail...they can elongate the mounting hole as the top mount is in single shear.

There are support brackets sold that mount to the chassis (needs some holes drilled) that puts the top mount in double shear.

Re: Suspension kept bouncing.

Depends on what your original ones look like wear wise etc...

I do like to use new fasteners in these situations, as I always add the extra brackets to any build I am doing....

Re: Suspension kept bouncing.

I received the new brackets today from LMC they look pretty solid but the weather going to be installed I don't see how it will stop deal on gated hole when it does not attached to the elongated hole. It attaches to the shock absorber itself which still leaves the elongated hole, so where is the support for the elongated hole is this going to be sufficient is is going to solve the problem I just don't see how it's going to work. I am a newbie but I don't want to drill into the frame if it's not going to serve its purpose

Re: Suspension kept bouncing.

A few YouTube vids will help you get a good idea of how the brackets go on. Also, if this was covered I missed it, is your truck lowered or stock height? If it is lowered you will need shocks for a lowered truck. I bought mine from CPP a few years back. They were 50 bucks each and made a huge difference in the way my truck road and drove. I would suggest replacing the rear shocks too. Or atleast do them soon after. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.
