Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

The litany of bad news continues. This was the result when I tried to rope in my barn door glass. I suspect cold weather made the rubber too rigid.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Dash wireing for the most part complete, guages light up and all looks good so far, some question on ohms for fuel guage and sender, might not talk to each other in the same language. Waiting on a maxi fuse holder to finish the right side of engine wireing, electric choke yet to finish, wire all run to front and back.

use lube, any old lube (except old lube), dish soap, vaseline, even some squirts of windex.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

I got the spindles off my axle and sized them up with the other two pair I have, been curious as I didn't remember the other pair I had. So I have two pairs of the passenger car 49-54 and then the ones that were on the axle are different, not sure of the difference but that is for another post.

brian: its been a few years since I installed passenger car spindles on my original I beam axle. if the grey cells are correct, the passenger car spindle angle between the king pin and the axle stub are different than the pick up ones. that causes a lot of caster and a big bow in the axle if you can bend it enough to get it aligned.

After my barn door window installation debacle I was forced to order some of the expensive rubbers from Steele. They arrived today - OMG what a difference! The standard window seals from most AD parts retailers are hard, inflexible and extremely difficult for a novice like me to install. The Steele units conversely are soft and supple. I anticipate a much easier installation. But at this price I'd better not damage these!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

With Christmas stuff and just being beat I have missed getting out for my five minutes over the last few days. I got out there today and finished up the frame so it is ready for powdercoating. It had a few dents and they are all fixed now. The "cart" thingies I made needed a bit of work too and I got that done. Removed the shackle shafts and put some oil on them so the hole they go in will be protected when sand blasting and powedercoating.

Now, I have to find something to do while I am waiting for the powder coating. One of the things is get all the springs and axle to get it rolling. I have to pull the rear end apart next I am thinking.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

I had a visitor at the house today too, with cmayna (Craig) coming buy to get a little part I had for him. We had a nice chat with his truck and mine, it was a nice bit of the day for sure. He drove his basically original truck (got a later 235 and a stereo LOL) over from across the SF bay and this truck is SOOOOOOO damn cool it's crazy! He posted this photo a while ago.

I thought it was cool seeing it in the photo but in person, wow, it is beyond cool.

Thanks Craig for the visit!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Jim, I ended up finishing the day with food poisoning after lunch. We are talking going to the hospital and all. I am still KNOCKED OUT by it, I will likely be staying home tomorrow when my family goes to my sister-in-law's house for Christmas.

I am really screwed up, hope it's over by tomorrow sometime but I don't see it.
