early doors are 73-76. But I don't think the piece I need is specific to just the early doors.

I have a set of 76 doors that have lower rust problems that your welcome to have patches form also.

Wow they did a number on that. How big of a patch do you want? I give you both doors if you know how to ship them. They need some rust repair at the bottom. I will get some pictures after I dig out my shed. Got to love snow.

need a piece that goes ~4" below the window opening, and ~11" long. the width would be offset from the door crank hole by ~2" or so.

see attached pics. LMK if you can cut it out, and how much you want. I can send over some money.

Awesome build, definetely following.

FYI a 2" body lift and a heavily modified core support will fit a stock lbz cooling "stack". Dropped the bottom of the core support down 2" which gave me most of the clearance needed. No body lift pucks will be used under the core support mounts since it got its "lift" from dropping the bottom down 2".

is that an 81+ core support?

I actually brought the bottom of my support lower than factory, taking up some of the stock gap between the support and frame. It's weird to think about, but the stock support bushing is basically frenched or counterbored up in the bottom just a hair.

for some reason, those seems like they are way more easily 'swappable' than the earlier ones. I haven't messed with one personally, but I have one friend with a cummins swapped '76 and another friend with a '84 and the 84' has way more space up front for the intercooler and what not.

it looks 'flatter' if you know what I mean.

I dig the crap out of you using the mechanical fan. I haven't seen anyone else doing that. Did you offset the motor from center line or the cooling stack?

Cant get pics to upload right now. Motor is centered and cooling stack is centered in the core support also. I will post some pics tonight and probably make a new thread so i dont hijack this one.

Truck is being built to work so sticking with the lbz complete cooling setup was a priority to make sure everything was gonna work and stay cool, should be overkill in this truck honestly. Also easy to source replacement parts out on the road.

and you used truck parts? my lb7 shrouds makes the fan offset from center on the cooling stack. about 1/2" IIRC.

In a stock GM truck, the engine is offset to the passenger side, and the cooling stack is centered. So when I centered my engine, I had to offset the cooling stack.

I'm wondering if the LBZ rad is offset from center, along with the engine- making all the components centered up. I'll have to measure some LBZ parts I have.

I hear you on using stock d-max parts. I plan to tow with mine as well, hence the gooseneck. Everyone I've talked to said the LB7 parts should be fine with a proper cold air intake as that was the pitfall of the LLYs.

With LBZ cooling stack and no EGR(assuming you'll delete), you should have more than enough cooling. I'd only look at using the LML trans cooler.

Yes im using stock truck parts, all lbz including shroud and fan. I am not running the inner shroud/cage deal around the fan.

Egr is deleted, bigger downpipe(lbz truck aftermarket replacement)is installed and 4" will be ran out the back. Stock charger for now and running the stock lbz air intake and powercore or whatever it is called filter setup. Should put down 500hp to the tires with the tuning i have.

We went with a aftermarket trans cooler, i will get the part # and post it. I built the trans to hold 750hp so it needs plenty of cooler.

The 94-02 dodge diesel cooling stack fits perfect in the core support, almost like they're meant to. I was origionally gonna use the cooling stack from my LBZ donor truck but decided to stick with using dodge parts due to ease of fit and scoring a mishimoto radiator and an on3 performance intercooler for dirt cheap.

what cooling fan arrangement do you have?

the 2nd gen cummins cooling parts essentially bolt in the 80+ core supports. It doesn't go in as cleanly in the 73-80 supports IIRC.

I thought about using the dodge stuff but wasnt sure if it would be enough under heavy towing. I decided to go through the work to fit the oem lbz stuff because i know it works from first hand experence from my truck in my signature and being super easy to find anywhere you may be in the US be it from local parts store or a wrecking yard.
