Rear U-Bolt Torque

Im Getting So Many Conflicting Answers.. All The Way From 125-250 foot Lbs.

Just Wondering The Toque Of The U bolt to axle housing n Trailing Arm To Frame? Do they Have To Be Under Load? Thanks

When I tightened mine up just a few weeks ago, the tips of the U-bolts were just a little two long for a deep well socket so I just used a 1-1/16" open-end wrench and used the trick where you hook another wrench over the first for added length, then used that length to get them tighter than heck. Guessing they are within 20lbs of 175lbs give or take. I drove the truck for about 50 miles, then rechecked them and they were all still tight, so I'm good with it.

If you tighten them evenly, you'll feel them bottom out. Mine were tight enough that I was worried about pulling the truck off the jack-stands because I was reefing so hard on the wrenches.. LOL

I know this isn't the exact answer you were looking for, but I was finding the same varying torque specs as well, so "tight as heck" and rechecking them after a few miles works.

To add to what saxart said, the rear ubolts on my truck have split pins through them too. Easy enough to add I guess and then you know they aren’t coming off I guess. But I went with tight as heck with mine too!
