But do you not have a filter in the carb itself?
I have a fuelfilter before my fuelpump and one in my carb (Rochester).

not trying to be critical here, but you may want to run some steel line up to the carb and support it so it doesn't rub or vibrate to fatigue and crack. the rubber line looks good but may be an issue after it heats up and sags. if you plan to continue using the rubber line it could be supported better with some clamps or whatever. fuel leak equals burnt truck. not good. seen a few of those in my career.

Hey Kees. No filter in carb. The carb is the Edelbrock 1406. I just have the one filter between fuel pump and carb.

dsraven, Not a problem. Old cracked fuel line almost cost me my truck years ago. One night leaving the drive in I started smelling gas and before I could stop and check under the hood the smoke started rolling out the fenders. It really flared up when I did open the hood. No fire extinguisher. I was trying to beat the flames out with a rag and I was loosing. It was my lucky night because just then a tow truck came around the corner. Seeing the flames the driver pulled his truck up to mine and used his extinguisher. All the stuff on top of the motor was burned and most of the wires were now crispy, the hood had a big blister and the motor was covered with white powder. The driver was headed home after a call. I wasn't going anywhere so the driver turned his truck around ,hooked my truck up and towed me home about 10 miles away. Charged me 35 dollars for the extinguisher and the tow. I was more than happy to pay that.

Ok, its about time that I start bringing this build up to date. It's been over a year since I last posted on here. Last summer I had a health issue come up that nearly stopped me in my tracks. Prostate cancer got me. I'm happy to say that everything is good to go now and I am doing very well.

I wanted to clean up the steps and fill up the bolt holes for the mounts. The steps were bent and twisted but really not to bad. I made the patches cut from a rect. tube that used to be part of a lawn swing.

Next up. Now the fun begins. Gotta fab up the step supports. More pictures will be posted soon.

Earl, you shocked me there!
Hope you are clean and healthy now from this terrible disease!
I know a few men that had it, got treatment and they are cured now, so it is a good possibility that you will live forever!

As for the steps, very nice work on them! Came out great!

Earl, Good to see you posting again. I always enjoyed your posts and am always amazed at your ingenuity and how you use drill bits to make cuts. I'm glad that you are well after the cancer thing. I also had prostate cancer in 2001 but caught it early and have done fine. BTW, Oregon is a long way from Georgia, but if you were close I would come by and get you to show me how to sharpen a drill bit by hand.

after having a 41 Willys try to burn down on the I65 bridge into Louisville and being saved by a master disconnect in the car. I know will not wire a car without a master disconnect you can reach from the drivers seat. trust me it will be a lifesaver sometime, similar to your ignition switch story above.

She put her hands on my face and said I hope you never finish that truck. I guess I'll just keep making changes and redo's.

In answer to your guestions I'll start with detection. Every year I have a check up where they take blood samples to see whats going on inside me. One of the numbers (PSA) had finally got high enough to be of concern. So that lead to a biopsy of the prostrate gland (not fun) where cancer cells showed up. Treatment: There are several options. Surgery to remove gland or hormone therapy which includes injections and radiation treatments. Injections are every 3 months for two years. I chose the latter because it was the least invasive. There could be more or different treatments but those were the two options given to me at the time.

Hey again. Well I finally got some more pictures ready to post. The last bunch was in May (5-30-2020) so its not as long as I thought it was.
The braces were alot of work with all the cutting and welding but they came out pretty good. I didn't find any at the last old car swap meet that I went to so these were a must to fab up. The hardest part was to find all the dimensions that I did not have.

And the last of them this time around. So that's another part of this project done for now. I just keep painting one part at a time. I would really like to get all the parts together and paint all at once but that will never happen here. So Im happy with one piece at a time. Or two.
