Bed Swap

Hello.
I am driving a 1961 GMC swb fleetside but recently picked up a 1963 swb step side project. I am aware that 63 is the first year of the frame "upgrade", my question is this...
Has anyone swapped a 63 step side bed onto a 61 fleetside frame before, and what to look out for? Just want a different look for the summer while I get the 63 chassis done up. Thanks!

Re: Bed Swap

you will need to replace the 4 cross sills including the rear one that is visible under the tail gate. Or you could modify the mounts on the frame to fit the bed You will also need new step side bumper brackets if you are planning on running a bumper. If this is temporary I don't think it is worth the effort.
