Help Me identify a GMC grille

A few months back I was working up in the Paradise/Concow, CA fire zone. A gentleman had lost his life in the fire and his son was there cleaning up the property. What used to be a really nice GMC longbed belonging to the dad had burned to the ground. About the only thing left that was salvageable from it was the grille and front bumper. They stood out as they shined in the sun. I asked him about the trucks that burned up and he said I could have any parts I wanted from them as he thought it would be cool to have them live on even though his dad passed. He couldn’t remember the year of the truck and the doors were stuck shut due to the heat, rust and warpage from the intense fire.

That being said, can someone help me put a year to it? I am debating on swapping out my radiator support and the rest to put this on my truck as a tribute to the old man who lost his life. I was able to salvage the grille, fender trim, headlight buckets and trim rings, headlight surrounds, and the front bumper with brackets. I haven’t even wiped the soot off of the parts

Re: Help Me identify a GMC grille

I think it's form a 69 to 70 gmc grill. Judgeing by the top bar ( whare the hood latch is.) 71 and 72 had a thicker middle part and had black accents. 67 had the gmc stamped in the middle and 68 would have a smaller top bar. Although the top bar can be swiched out between all of them.

Re: Help Me identify a GMC grille

Perfect guys thanks for the answer, forgot to mention I also picked the center bracket for the grille and hood latch. I have to decide which way to go. I’ll either sell it, continue with the changeover plan or keep it hanging in my garage for a future project.

Re: Help Me identify a GMC grille

Anyone know if these are a stainless item or an anodized product?

Re: Help Me identify a GMC grille

That grille right there is the '68-'70 type, all smooth. The surround says 69/70. The '67 grille looked the same but have GMC stapped in the horizontal bar. '71/'72 grilles changed. The most noticeable is the wider vertical bar and black accent paint. The vertical bar has raised edges where chrome is exposed.

I was just laying it all out in one post as clear as I could. I mentioned chrome but didn't make it clear that GMC grilles are steel. In 67/68 the base trim had painted grille, white '67 and silver '68. The rest are chrome.
