My son’s 1968 short fleet 60K mile 1 owner

Greetings!
I frequent the 60-66 C10 section. I have a 63 & 65 C10.
My oldest son wanted something 67-72. We just picked up this C10 last weekend. Local man bought it and installed a
1992 350 with standard bore and zero miles since rebuild - but it has been broken in.
new main bearings and rings
new freeze plugs
reconditioned crank
Crane 288 cam
Holley 650 CFM
Hooker headers
Edelbrock Torker manifold
Camel 202 valve heads
700R4
Brand new tires X 4

Starts and yard drives. Brakes are first thing on the list.
Steering column needs better brackets.
PS door handle mechanism isn’t working.
Rockers need to be replaced.
Really solid truck.
My son is thrilled.
Here’s a short video on the day we purchased it. https://youtu.be/FDggn8W8ANQ

What a cool truck! Sheetmetal looks good. I say get the brakes working and the engine running as it should and log some miles on it. I would be proud to own that one.

Re: My son’s 1968 short fleet 60K mile 1 owner

I've never seen those wheels in the 6 lug version, those are not terribly common in the 5 lug version...The Rally wheel center cap is what is used on those wheels, those would be easy to find. BUT, of course converting to disc, most go 5 lug. 6 lug disc stuff is available...
Congrats!!!

More pictures, info!!! Glove box decal intact???

Yes! The decal is still there and you can read the VIN. Can I find the VIN anywhere else on the truck?

I agree with KMC, get it to where you're comfortable taking it on the street and drive it for awhile. I miss driving mine and it's been less than 6 months since I took it apart.

Factory shortbeds are an awesome find!

Thumbs up Re: My son’s 1968 short fleet 60K mile 1 owner

Nice 68 fleet sir! These old trucks are nice first vehicles. They are dependable and heavy.

I'm hoping to have my daughters running by the end of September with new 350 and hopefully a 700R4 in it. I have a donor 80's pickup for the front disc brakes to swap out for it also.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

There is a metal data plate in the drivers door jamb...

Pretty solid looking truck! Sounds like you won’t have to worry about the engine much.

Partial VIN on top of drivers side frame rails. One adjacent to the steering gear and the other under the cab
