What is the color combo for light blue exterior
I am wanting to paint my 68 c-10 a baby blue like the truck I had 30 years ago. It was baby blue with white top. Loved that truck. Anyway, taking interior apart and wanting to paint, but I need an idea of what color it should be for blue/white exterior. Any and all combinations would be appreciated. Tell me what you did and how it turned out. Thanks!

Was it this color combo? This is a 69 K10.

Re: What is the color combo for light blue exterior
The interior paint would be the exact same as the exterior primary color, 507 Light Blue. Your paint code on the SPID would have been 537 to indicate it had an off white (ivory) 526 roof (slightly different from georgie's 521 white roof, even though they shared the same paint code of 537 - off white/ivory 526 was no longer used as the two-tone "white" starting in 69). Your interior color options (i.e. trim/fabric/vinyl, etc) would have been Blue, Fawn, or Black.
The paint codes for 68 507 light blue would be: DuPont 4537-L Rinshed-Mason A-1688 Ditzler 12846 |

Re: What is the color combo for light blue exterior
I believe in these years the interior trim pieces was color coordinated to the exterior, but not an exact match. Yes, main color of interior was same color of exterior. In my observations, light blue trucks received a darker blue interior trim pieces such as steering wheel and column, door panels, and seat upholstery.

Re: What is the color combo for light blue exterior
That's a great point - as for interior "trim" items - there was only one "blue" available - and while the 507 light blue would have been used on the metal surfaces, the trim surface that weren't sheet-metal (column, steering wheel, etc) would have been the color of the trim blue. I kind of assumed the OP was talking about the interior sheet metal, inner doors, dash, cab, etc - but you raise an excellent point - there are other painted surfaces that would have had the trim blue color - regardless of whether the truck itself was light blue, , medium blue, dark blue, black, white, silver, white, or off white.
I believe the blue interior trim color is very close to the medium blue code 506 of the same year, but I can't find that documented anywhere. FWIW, med blue is DuPont 4839-L, Rinshed-Mason A-1933, or Ditzler 13363. For reference, here's a pic of a v4900 mile 68 C20 in dark blue that shows the single blue interior trim paint color available - i.e. a close match to medium blue - note steering wheel and column. |
