Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
I had a nice little pile of parts delivered early last week so I've been busy with a few things! I got my Vintage air heater, A mock up set of front tires since i can tell there to small already, and the best part my Hills rod and custom inner front fender wells showed up! ( I will do a full review and install pics of those later)

First up heres a few pics of the Vintage air heater and install. Nice quality part and the fit was pretty good with the space behind the dash.

I decided to run the heater core lines through the firewall beside the heater delete plate to keep it simple.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Heres how I modified the heater controls to use the original control housing. I didn't really like the Vintage air controls and I definatly didn't want them hanging under the dash. I took the new unit apart then Painted the old housing black drilled three holes for the new knobs then put in a thin layer of rubber to hide everything behind the knobs.

Very slick. I like the flatness in finish the rubber background gives you..

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Heres a few pics of the low profile tires I ordered up. I ordered these after getting the specs from a truck that I thought looked pretty sweet! Unfortunately once I got these tires in my hands I realized they were way to low profile for me and never survive on our local roads. :wash:
They look cool but just won't work but I mocked them up anyway just to see and get an idea of what i will need for clearance once i start on the wheel tubs. Oh and the size is 245/30/22 for those who might be deciding on wheel sizes. |

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Here are the tires mounted on the 22" transits. The first pic is a 265/40/22 (rear) vs the 245/30/22 (front). Then a few pics on the truck.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
So after seeing that I had to get them off and put the bigger rubber back on! I rough cut out the front fender so I could drop it a little more and temp put the caps on and it looks much better! Front tire is still to big but I've got the idea of what size to go now.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Ok heres some updates on the front inner fender install. What a PITA this has been! First off the inner fenders are very rough cut and need a lot of trimming/fitting. Ive probably had these things in and out and fenders off at least 25-30 time each side!
I was told these were going to be trim to fit so I'm not really suprized but still a lot of work. Heres a few pics to start. |

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
I used the supplied templates to get an idea of how much to cut out but I ended cutting out a lot more but it was a good start.

Once the fenders were off you can see some of the trimming to get the inner fenders into place on the truck.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Next up was cutting out the inner fender. I was dreading this part but it had to be done. I also pulled the inner fender back out to trim around the shock and locate the inner bolt holes.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
So after about 2 full days on the pass side its together with the fender on and all mocked up! It's a tight fit everywhere but looks like it belongs in there.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Project looks great! I have those same inner fenders for my project. Not installed yet. They are REALLY heavy. I'm going to stay tuned for your driver's side.
