47 - 53 Rear Bumper - where to buy

I plan on painting my bumpers. Feels silly to buy chrome. Does anyone know where to find one? I would buy used.

I have one, but it's all bent to hell. P,P,P,PO probably pulled somebody out of a ditch with a chain.

Try here. Cheaper than Chrome.

Why not straighten the one you have? Or if there is a chrome shop that does bumpers you might see about having them straighten it but not do the finish work. = get it to the point where you can do the finish work and priming and painting. They may look at you like you grew horns but it should be a simple process for them and you get it back straight but needing finishing.

Ok Mr. 48. I'm down for this idea.

Although, I don't have an acetylene torch. Do you think I could get away with heating it with map gas?

I'll try to find a pic of the damage.

A good stump or big round of firewood and a big hammer and a buddy fool enough to hang onto it while you beat on it might work pretty well to get it roughed back in shape.

Or if you know someone who has a hydraulic press you can use for a bit.

I'm not sure that the map gas would heat it enough to do any good nor am I sure you even need to heat it.

Re: 47 - 53 Rear Bumper - where to buy

bumpers are relatively springy, I dont think a big hammer will do a lot. best thing to do is run it over, no kidding.

i repaired one on nicks 54 that was torn in half, ended up with the gnarliest looking scar.

rear bumpers are hard to come by, (that is a front bumper on the back of nicks, lots of guys do that) I only have one and its in deplorable condition or I would offer another if I had it. there is a guy in rose hill who stashes these parts, or the swap meet is next weekend anyway.

sprworm12, I'm in. I PM'd you. But let me know if you don't get it.

mick53, I very much appreciate it brother, but yours is actually I little rougher than my current. And I have brackets built for the rear bumper.

Thanks for the note on Brothers. I'll buy new if I have to.
