72 C-20 Help

Evening guys im confused i have a 72 C-20 pickup my hamonic Balancer was bad i got it off the shaft on the balancer broke right where the key way slot is im trying to find out what you do with the new key that came with my new balancer do i just grease up the crankshaft and set the key in yhe slot then use my install tool ? bigger? Is do i need to mark the balancer for timing i thought thats why the key way is there to Keep the motor timed . Saddletramp

Sounds like you have it down. It is kinda hard to understand all of your questions.

Yes some grease should help. Use the search function on this site and you will find service manuals, and reference others works. Careful with the Harmonic Balancer bolt it is easy to snap the head off if you torque it too much.

The new key should be in the groove snug, if its sloppy it is not the right size.

Thanks ill do better with my posts i just need to no do i have to mark the harmonic balancer any where when installing it with the timing be OK just making sure the key fits snug Thanks Saddletramp

Remove all the old bits and pieces, put new key in slot on crank, slip balancer nose over crank and key and use your installer to put it on. Depending on how tight it fits, I will warm the balancer up to expand it and help it go on easier.
