getting closer/ whats this hole for

here's a couple of pic of my 68 gmc short bed 5.3/2004r . can someone tell me what the hole in the pass. side door jamb is for?

It holds the spring for the Jack equipment that mounts on the inner side

Chewy is correct, here is a picture of the spring that bolts there. It holds the bag that the jack handle and tire tools are in.

thank you for the replies. i guess i wont be installing that because i bought metal speaker mounts that cover the corners of the cab.

Yeah, but you can still put the proper screw in the hole so it looks "right" My truck has a Phillips round head machine screw holding the spring in place. I say "my truck" as I have no idea if it is original or not.
