Just picked up my 56 chassis from TCI
I originally started off with a Chopin-block chassis but for whatever reason... it just took a long time. So we changed directions and went with the TCI. Pretty happy so far

Re: Just picked up my 56 chassis from TCI
I forgot to start a build thread... but this is what I started with. After dismantling it, I ended up with just a vin tag

Re: Just picked up my 56 chassis from TCI
So far, I have $4500 in the original truck currently sold as parts. $1200 in the cab, $4000 in all-new sheet metal, $1800 for the crate engine and 17 for the frame. So far.

Re: Just picked up my 56 chassis from TCI
I have spent my life trying to warn people about buying California cars and trucks, they all assume it's all desert here and it never rains, this state is so big and so diverse it's like three countries in one let alone three states, I once looked at a VW Bug in Monterey that was literally held together by rust and dust, think ocean and humidity, I also looked at a truck in Auburn total rust bucket cause of the elevation and snow up in the Mountains ~ so yeah I hear you

beautiful craftsmanship, I'll be enjoying watching your build. Is it possible if you can measure the height of the front tabs where the front core supports bolt on to, I built my own frame and need to make sure I made mine correct height. I would appreciate it

Re: Just picked up my 56 chassis from TCI
sorry, I thought you bought a brand new cab. you still have some work to do on the "new" one, lol. a new cab wouldda set you back some but they also come with doors so.....it's only money right?

Re: Just picked up my 56 chassis from TCI
How did you like dealing with TCI directly? I have talked to them a few times at the GNRS in Pomona over the last few years. I get a different sales guy each time with a different idea on what I need. And each time the sales guy there is giving me the "show Special", but once you get it configured it ends up being full retail. I have actually looked at getting the chassis from Classic Industries in Huntington Beach, because there sale prices are usually better for some reason then direct from TCI.

Re: Just picked up my 56 chassis from TCI
check thee guys out, I've seen their frames. nice. original corvette underpinnings (rebuilt of course), fully boxed, brake lines, fuel lines, battery cables run inside the frame for cleanliness. pretty good deal when you're paying in USD compared to Canadian dollar.
