basic horn button question ('68 Custom) non-chrome??
I searched, but I'm only finding the reproduction horn buttons ("Chevrolet Division") for the '67-68's in bright chrome.
The original button is more of a 'brushed/satin' look, but does not appear chrome. (photo below of repro and my original) I did order one off Ebay, where the seller listed one as chrome and another (that I ordered) did not say chrome. I just received, and it's bright chrome. I contacted the seller and he states that's all he's aware is out there. To note, I have seen photos of originals, that admittedly look a bit chrome on the perimeter, but brushed in the center area. My original albeit a dirty and old, sure doesn't look like it was ever chrome. Does anyone know is there is actually a satin/brushed cap reproduced? Thanks in advance, Kevin

Re: basic horn button question ('68 Custom) non-chrome??
I think 68's only had one type of horn button regardless of trim level. My 68 CST has the flat grey one like the one pictured. Chrome upgrades were a 67 CST (Custom too?) thing only.
I don't think the 68 style horn button is being reproduced.

Re: basic horn button question ('68 Custom) non-chrome??
Thanks for the replies. Along the lines of what I'm thinking (learning
I too have seen pics of (I assume original) caps with what looks like a 'machined' center, and 'chrome-like' perimeter. My original is not like that, just more of a 'satin' look. For the record, my truck is a "Custom", but I don't know if there were different caps for "Custom" vs. a base truck ...? I believe only the 67/68 CST trucks got this cap... Thanks again, Kevin
