Anyone ever used a fuel pipe restrictor in their in cab tank neck?
I was thinking of adding one of these to my 1967 in cab Fuel tank to stop the gas from getting to the cap so easily on left turns and spilling out onto the paint. If I added a few extra small holes so it could breath would this affect the expansion and venting of the gas cap? Anyone ever done this and had problems?

You don't need to add any holes, as it's not going to seal tightly enough to keep vapor from escaping. But for the same reason I'm not sure it would do a lot of good. It might help some with surges of gas.

I just thought if there wasn't a Rush of fuel the full size of the pipe and a by only a quarter of the size of the pipe I would have a better chance of it not reaching the cap.

I have one in my 1971 Ranchero, it works well.

$350 for Performance online aluminum 19 gallon baffled tank under the bed solved these problems.
Safer also. IMO Mark

Keeping it original so moving the tank is not an option

Where did you find this?
There was a thread recently that suggested a quality cap, or modifying the currently cap should keep it from spilling.

The top is just soldered on. Just remove it, slide this down the pipe, and resolder the top on.

Did you think about not filling the tank so much ? I never had this issue.

Re: Anyone ever used a fuel pipe restrictor in their in cab tank neck?
I haven't either. In fact I have never even put gas into it yet. It's my build. I just am trying to eliminate problems other ppl have had while my tank is new. I don't overfill tanks. That's done for expansion but I hate stains on my paint. Storing it with a half empty tank can lead to rust problems down the road.

Re: Anyone ever used a fuel pipe restrictor in their in cab tank neck?
Not sure if this helps, but when recently pulling my rusty ‘69 tank, I had a spare ‘72 tank. During rinsing of the ‘72, I found that I couldn’t pour a couple of gallons out of it through the filler neck, it had to exit through the sending unit hole. The ‘72 filler neck protruded into the tank by several inches, whereas the ‘69 didn’t. Seems like this would alleviate slosh getting to the cap.

Run an old fashion gas non locking, twist on gas cap.
I remember filling up and going around a corner and watching the gas just pour out. I found the rubber seal was not working. Switch to a stock cap problem solved. |

Re: Anyone ever used a fuel pipe restrictor in their in cab tank neck?
This is the locking cap I intend to use. It is an original not a repo. It is a spin on type and it does seal fairly tight with a new cork style gasket. Maby I'll just leave it and we'll see. If it leaks I'll get a different cap.

Is there a good aftermarket "Original Style" Cap?

Re: Anyone ever used a fuel pipe restrictor in their in cab tank neck?
I've never had gas come out of the cap while turning on either my 68 or 72.
Not being a smartass but it's never been an issue for me
