Glue on or push on door rubber
Getting ready to order a rubber kit from GMC Pauls. Wondering which door rubber is better for shutting the door. I have now push on rubber and and wondering if glue on might be a little thinner and easier to close the door

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
Push on,I got mine fron GMC Pauls, love them, they will be a little tight at first, but will relax,or you could loosen up your strikers,no glue is the way to go!

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
I tried glue on but as firedemon said, total PITA... i went with a set from the junkyard from a van, cut to size... had the same tightness issue for a year but after sitting for a while they aren't too bad.

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
I will not use the glue on door seals any more. Some people use the new style push on door seals. Others use Dakota or Honda door seals. I tried the push on door style from Brothers, but I had to slam my doors to get them to shut properly. I bought the Honda Civic seals and my doors shut much better. There's info on this thread link.

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
I’ve used all kinds; push on, glue on, Dodge Dakota seals, and the civic seals. The civic seals win out in my book. Put them on three different trucks and they all shut perfectly without slamming.

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
I put precision push ons on my K20 last week. I’m happy with them. The mitre at the front upper corner is a nice touch. I don’t have to slam the doors but you do have to push on the handles firmly as you close the door to get them to latch if that makes sense.

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
The glue on was a disaster for me.
Push on are nice, but my passenger side is always off by the latch.

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
Also don't forget to put a v notch in the ends of the rubbers to let some aie escape when you shut the door,I have seen so many that were glued at the ends with no relief for air escape,so the air trapped inside will pressurize the rubber and won!t let you shut the door without slamming it,just my 3 cents

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
Just put press on door seal on left side, seems great except it came out 3/4 inch short. Was expecting too long if anything, got em from LMC, so don't know brand, wondering if anyone else has run into this. (probably get same thing back if I returned them, will most likely cut piece off old seal and glue it in since sill plate covers it.)

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
Push on. They give you the ability to remove them and make adjustments.

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
Has anyone sourced “new” civic seals - and, if so, where and what was closing the door like? (I’m kinda assuming the used civic seals are worn and that is part of why the doors shut easily). I’m skeptical they are even available new but just curious. I’ve used the push on seals and the doors were so hard to shut I took em back off and just reinstalled the old ones on a previous truck. Tried all the fitting tricks, notch for air escape, moving striker etc and they still sucked. Had to slam the door so hard it just wasn’t worth it.

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
Two weeks ago I sourced 2010 Honda seals and they fit perfect. No slamming.

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=741910 My modification to remove the extra "lip" is in post #155. New Honda seals worked well, no need to get used ones from the junkyard if you don't want to. I tried the Precision seals and had the same hard closing issues as most. Honda seals felt factory correct.

Re: Glue on or push on door rubber
I bought the push on from LMC. They kept falling off. I pinched them to get them to fit tighter and they still fall off. Also, they are too short. Your supposed to push them on in kind of a tight bunched up way but if you do that with the LMC ones, you'll end up 6 inches short of making it all the way around the door. But the more you stretch them out to cover the whole door, they easier they fall off. So I went ahead and glued them on. Also, I now have to slam my doors to get them to close. I need a better solution. Maybe I'll try some of the recommended ones in this thread.
