guys who use aftermarket suspension parts

My wife has been really supportive of my many projects including several squarebodies and shes been wanting a second creation for herself. For years shes wanted to do a 50s era truck, but finding something in decent shape for a reasonable price has been a real effort.
A couple of weeks ago i found her a body, a 1953 International 110 Pickup. It looks alot like a chevy of the era, and she thought the truck was cute and all so i bought it. The truck looks like it will fit well on a shortbed C10 chassis as there is only a 1 inch difference in the wheelbase between the two

Heres the squarebody questions

Has anyone used a tubular control arm/ coil over set up that does not lower the truck, and do you have a part number manufacturer and source for said set up?

Also has anyone found a good four link set up with coil overs for the rear that is somewhat easy to install? again part number, manufacturer, and source is appreciated

If you guys want to be super nice id love to see pictures too.. Thanks in advance

Re: guys who use aftermarket suspension parts

measure the outside tire width....I think the C10 will be way to wide for the L110...
my 57 IH A120 is wider than your L series..and it was pushing it to use full size chevy axles and keep the tires in the fenders...even with the least backspacing I could get..
there is a guy (Jeff Potter) on youtube that has done several of the older IHs..he uses dodge Dakota chassis on them
nice looking truck though

Re: guys who use aftermarket suspension parts

I am jealous of that truck. It is a looker.

Personally I would look at a S10 frame due to the immense aftermarket support if your down for a full frame swap. Another consideration if your down for 17" rims. A Jag front end should be pretty easy to fit from what I measured. You need the larger rims to help tuck them in a bit further.

I have thought about getting a old International truck, and put a 6.9 IDI diesel in it with a custom routed turbo kit for the full International treatment. With the outside hope of a DT360 if more room can be found in there.

Yes on the S-10 suggestion. The earlier chevy boys ('49-'54) truck's are using those for a modern upgrade.

Why don't you be different than all the other folks and run the suspension the way it is? Everybody has to convert it, chop it, slam it, radius arm it, put an Ls in it etc.

I do like trucks that are stock, in fact most of my builds are bone stock, save a few things that are done . For example on my wife's 1966 Mustang, shes all of 5'1" and shes not the strongest gal ive ever met, so I converted the car to have aftermarket power brakes and front discs as opposed to the manual drums all around. I also added a stainless steel true dual exhaust for her, as she likes the sounds. I am approaching this build the same way I would if a person on the street asked me to do a job for him. Im just the labor and skill, not the designer or the owner.
My wife's request was a hot looking truck that is fast and has lots of jewelry on it. I seht her on Instagram and facebook as well as here to find older trucks and pick out what she likes and doesnt like and she is making the decisions... My only "NO!!!" was no Fords and i told her that if something was not feasable I wouldnt attempt such a build
a pic of how her last car turned out

Re: guys who use aftermarket suspension parts

KW..the bad thing about old IHs is when they built them new, they used a material called unobtanium...
There is no aftermarket/restoration support for IHs..especially the trucks..the parts that are out there are so high$$$ its unreal...so you usually have to make do with what you can make work...much easier, and cheaper, to just upgrade and modernize it..it can still look old on the outside..

It's funny Bob..you said no fords,,but she's driving a mustang...hahaha..
That is a nice stang though....
