Seat question

Working on a new to me 68 c10. Came
With and extra bench seat. One in the truck was pretty torn up on driver side. Extra seat was not. Put it in just so I wasn’t dealing with all the insides coming out while I’m workin on it. Realized after I put the other one in is that it is fixed and doesn’t fold forward. It bolted right in with no problems. What could it be out of? I assume something with four doors like a suburban.

Our truck seats were not meant to fold forward. There is a bolt you can remove to make them fold.
Grumpy explained this better then I. "That's a 67- early 68 flip seat Later 68 -72 bolted solid with the upholstery covering the arms" .

I just bought a 71-72 seat cover from LMC for my 71 c10 and i am having trouble with the fit of the covers. I took my seat apart and i am currently working on the back and it dont seem to fit around the bottom of the seat. My seat tilts forward and from reading the attached post it appears i have a 68 seat frame? Are the 67-68 the only years the seat tilts forward? Thanks, Carl

If the seat is covered in vinyl on the back, it's from a Suburban. Pick up seats have bare springs showing.
The '67 + '68 bench seats folded forward if a nut on each side was removed. [3/8''-16, IIRC] I used wing nuts on mine for quicker access.
On some later seats, the mechanism is still there, but the nut is covered in vinyl. Perhaps if the material were cut away, the seat might fold.
IDK... I have no experience with later seats.

the folding seat and the later seat are 2 different animals the folding seat back "legs" are wider and use a shoulder bolt to allow the seat to fold forward and not destroy the seat cover . The later seats don't have the same brackets welded onto the "legs" they have 2 countersunk #3 Phillips head bolts used to bolt the backrest and seat bottom together . All the 67 folding seats came with wingnuts . from 67-72 there are

2 different seat frames
2 different types of seat "suspension" , Full foam or springs.
3 different types of seat tracks 67-early 68 / 68-69-70 / 71-72

Thanks for setting me straight, Grumpy. I'm no bench seat expert anymore. In 1977 during an engine rebuild at MCAS Yuma, I traded my folding bench seat to the shop NCO for a '69 Thunderbird bucket-back/bench-bottom seat with electric controls and headrests.
Nice, on a long drive, you can tilt forward or go lower, to change pressure on your accelerator foot. Like trim tabs in a plane.
