Hooking a kick down(detent) cable to an Edlebrock carb

Just got my tranny from the shop and the guy told me to hook up the kick down cable. I got home and the carb I have is an edlebrock 1405. The throttle bracket is there and has the square hole for the kick down cable but where would it hook to on the carb?

In the hole in the throttle arm below the accelerator cable? That is where my return spring is connected..........so where would I move that to. Also would the stock cable work or do I need to get a universal cable. Thanks for the quick reply

Where did you get the stud OC? My throttle are looks different. Where yours has the big hole up and to the left of the accel cable mine is below the cable...same hole and my return spring is hooked in there.

Good pic. When I installed mine my cablethe throttle cablewas at a sever angle. I tried a new bracket that mounts to the carb. That kinked the cable. I ended up going with the Lokar setup. New Throttle and kickdown cable. It's a sweet setup.

what trans do you have? what you may be dealing with isnt a kickdown cable at all, if its a TV cable, you're in trouble if it isnt hooked up.

I went and looked at my throttle arm yesterday and it's the same as your oc. 1faastc10 I have the th-350c. It's the detent cable. The guy that built my transmission said that it was important to hook it up. Oc.....i thought it controlled line pressure? Now what cable should I get.......a stock one?

if you have a th350c, the same tranny i have, you dont have to have the kickdown cable hooked up. the detent cable on a 700r4 is very important to use though.

i am using mine. in the picture i posted, it is the cable that is going to the same place the return spring is located.

all it is supposed to do is shift the tranny down a gear or two depending on how much gas you give it

i ran a stock cable with mine too, after i rebuilt the engine and trans. the two trannys previous to this one (one is still going with no cable hooked up, 80K on the trans last time i heard, and never a problem out of it) didnt have it hooked up. the second one i had the pump went south and fried the clutches.

Hook up the detent cable its not that hard. It does adjust line pressure in conjunction with the shifts depending on throttle. It isn't mandatory to have the detent cable hooked up. But I dont see what the advantage or reasoning is to not hooking the detent cable up? It was designed for it to be used so the transmission can function better.
