72 C-20 Help

Does anyone no what this wire is for its off the junction on the drivers side fender the PO installed a HEI Distributor the other and of has a round fastener on it i dont have a voltage regulator the PO converted the distributor does the the wires on the distributor look right its putting out 14 amps Thanks for the help Saddletramp

Possibly for a dual battery. Should have nothing to do with the HEI

If this is what your talking about it's the alternator. Splices should be a little neater and bare wires need some insulation

Your positive battery cable should have a small wire that comes off of it at the battery connection. This wire connects to a fusible link and then the fusible link connects to the junction block on the passenger fender. The junction block and associated wiring with 2 small inline fuses are what powers your volt meter. It has nothing to do with the HEI operation.
