Can't seem to Find the VIN Plate

I just bought a 1970 4x4 SWB truck without the bed. The cab is not original and does not have a VIN plate on it. I do have the title for the truck though, and supposedly the VIN plate is amongst the boxes of parts and pieces that came with the truck. However, I still havent found it after some time rummaging through everything(going to look some more tonite). What should I do if I cant find the correct VIN plate? Is there a VIN # stamped on the frame somewhere I can show validity of the title when i register the truck? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Kenny

Yes part of the vin is stamped on the drivers side frame (on top) may have to scrape some dirt etc. to see it.
