[quote=special-K;8849129]Both got my attention. It was a nice display piece for the cars and a stand out custom purpose-built on it's own. The one you I wish never got away from me was that gold utility body truck

I hope you get it back

Mid-60s to early-70s 4wd is one of my favorite segments in the truck world. In '77 I got a '69 Dodge W200 Sweptline Power Wagon. It was already rusty so I did a frame-up using rust free body parts and N.O.S. trim, etc. First thing I did was lift and put 37/14.50 tires on it. Ended up with a 440 Interceptor in it. I liked it a lot. But Mopar sucked for parts support. I did end up selling it... for parts. I was involved in a head-on collision with it. It got hurt bad. Everyone survived fairly well.
Only Dodge I've ever owned was a 75 Dart. I liked it less the 318 sounded like a jet warming up, 10 minutes in the cold, and still managed to backfire up the hill. But big fan of Mopar restorations. That truck must have been a beast.

For what it's worth I miss your having the 71 Cheyenne and Huntsman camper too that's one of my favorite pictures, what a beauty.

Re: The One You Wish You Had Back

Since I didn't start this crazy obsession until late in the game...my first was a new 1978 GMC K15 short box step side. Black with red interior, 400 engine. Raised it two inches with a size larger tire keeping the original rally style wheels. Have to look for a pic but was sharp looking. Sold it to a friend and never saw either of them again. My back up was a '68 Pontiac Grand Prix...428ci 390hp. Dark green, black interior, buckets..really kicking myself for not keeping that one!!!

Regret selling it. I actually regretted it the day I did it I could have backed out as no money or papers signed but I made a deal

Re: The One You Wish You Had Back

I only owned the RX2 three months before we did a 180. My first vehicle. So fun to drive, except when we've done a 180

Re: The One You Wish You Had Back

This is the one car I should have kept. Did a hundred hours of yard work for it in high school. 1956 Super power brakes steering and windows. Had tuck and roll done in the 60’s and had been sitting since the late 70’s when I got it in 97.

Irony is I used the money from the Studebaker to buy my house and I gave the money from the Suburban to my son to buy his . Didnt sell it for that purpose but it made it easier than taking money out of my investments

Hey Tim that was a cool truck for sure,,454,400 TRANS,AC ..Member "Olden Days" built that C30 and what a job he did..I had it for about 3 years. That truck would have been a good one for your businessTruck was so well detailed and nice plus the lift gate really came in handy...........oh well that's what this tread is about...Rob
There she is. I wish I was in better shape to buy that. "The one that got away" over "The one I regret selling".

That '71 Camper was my biggest mistake giving up on. We didn't seem to be using it much at all and it was getting ruff around the edges. I had other projects and decided it would make a great donor for another short bed build. Yep, I had short bed fever even though I always had a soft spot for a C/20 done just right. The K/20s have always been my no.1 interest and I had three. I sold that 50th-look '68 and was going to build my dream '71 Cheyenne SWB from a base SWB I had. The '67 project I have now was originally going to be a pro-street half of a mild & wild SWB pair. Then came the divorce

Didn't take long. Not displayed in the car corral or even sitting properly on a vendor space. Just a little "for sale" written on a lower window. That Suburban got a lot of love there.

Silly me. It had a dent on the bed and a bad spot of paint on the hood that bothered me. I decided I wanted a more radical 67/68 and a classy factory look on a 71/72, so I sold it

I always wanted to drive a Wankel. Those Rotary Power pickups were super cool, I have to admit. To have one of those today would be perfect. My son would be in heaven since he is into the Japanese trucks.

I love the old customized/hot rod cars that sat for decades with the vintage treatments left in tact all those years. Great find!

Re: The One You Wish You Had Back

1972 K/5 Blazer and my Dad (gone too young).
My first vehicle, bought it from my Dad when I was 15. Drove it for 5 years and then sold it, we lost track of it after that. I have had many other Chevy trucks since then but that's the one I miss the most.
First pic is my Dad.
Second pic is me with hair 37 years ago.
