Did clean my distributor when unfortunately this
little pin fell out. I forgot to take a picture before, so I hope someone out there could send me one. It’s a Delco III0340 30OD |

I hope someone out there could send me one.<< The picture you included is a web image? The wire measures .037" (inch). A short piece of piano wire should be much easier for you to find in Stockholm. It doesn't need to be pre-bent with that little notch. Hook one end, bend it across the pin and hook it on the other catch. The spring keeps the point plate tight against the pin to allow for wear on the pin. The coil spring keeps the point plate pressed down on the nylon pads. Together they keep the point plate stable so that the dwell doesn't wonder. If the pin hole has too much wear, some guys braze the hole closed and redrill. The point distributor is extremely reliable. The points easily last 10,000 miles if adjusted properly, before needing cleaned/adjusted or replaced. I installed a coil-in-cap HEI 30+ years ago, because I was putting a lot of miles on the '67 and the 10k miles was coming up very often. Divorced and the'67 was my only vehicle. I replaced it with a external-coil, '75 inline six HEI in '05 when I added the AC. It gives more room to remove the cap.

Very good and interesting info Richard...especially the '75 6-cyl HEI with the separate coil setup to clear the A/C compressor.
