I missed that truck by 25 minutes I had cash in hand and was ready to drive all the way out there to hand it to the guy. The seller had told me he had already made a deal with somebody but wasn't sure if they were going to show up so I asked him if he would tell me the guy's name he was talking to and when he said Ken I knew who it was so I bowed out. It was very tempting to offer more money but I didn't think that would right. That is definitely a killer truck and I wouldn't have loved to own it but after searching for months and months and then having that slip away it was the nail in the coffin for me trying to find a real one(72K20 Cheyenne Super)so now I'm just building my own. I am glad that you got that one Eric, what are your plans for it

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

You just can’t keep them all
So much of the fun is in the hunt
I just dig it
Walking up on a truck for the fist time
Popping the glove box to see the spid
Climbing up, under and around
Trying to find out the story...

I don’t have a lot of pictures of this one

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

I started sorting it out
Fixed the wrong paint scheme
Got rid of lower bed-liner spray
Gathered up original moldings
Never even got them put back on
Before I finished
Ken asked if he could buy it back
Guess, I had too many trucks at the time
Plus
He found it anyway
And it was the right thing to do

I'm no young buck but I do like my Clapton. One of my all time favorites since the late 60's.

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

Somewhere along the line
I picked this one up
I’m not sure if I even knew
It wasn’t a stock color combo
Strange to me,
That Chevrolet never did a deluxe two-tone
In medium olive - dark olive
Or
In medium blue - dark blue

And
A man purse
He was nervous I was going to screw him
So he wanted to go to DMV to do the transaction
He jumped in and I drove him to Oakland DMV
By the time we got there he was starting to change his mind
And wanted it for less money
Nope
So I said, see you later
I think I drove him to a mall or something
Then he rechanged his mind
I was getting tired of It so I said
Show me the money
Most of it came out of the man purse
Then he started digging into his socks
And some holster thing he Had under his shirt.
All green
We drove back to DMV
Learned about his family
And he was going to frame off the truck
This was before COVID
I’ll never forget it, we waited in line for a while
Got to the counter and were helped by most beautiful black woman
I have ever seen in my life
But she was wearing surgical gloves.
Asked her why, but she wasn’t very nice
And just collected his money
By the time we were done
There was a tow truck outside
I rolled the truck off the trailer
Told man purse man to drive it over to the tow truck
Said he couldn’t
Because he didn’t know how to drive a stick shift
So I did

Never heard from him again
Man purse......and couldn't drive a stick shift.....Holy crap....What's happening to the male species? LOL!

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

Funnier story

At some point in my life I had a significant other
That was of German heritage
All her family was over there
We used to visit often
And whenever the cousins would come to America
They would stay with us
One year
It was time for one Of the teenage girls to
‘Come to America’ with her teenage friend
We told them to fly into SFO and rent a car

When they got to the airport, they freaked out
And called us
In broken germinglish
Eric ‘ the only cars they have are automatic’
We only know how to drive standard

To this day I laugh about that conversation

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

When I met my wife she had only driven stick. She grew up with her mother driving VW Bugs and everything at her Family Orchard was stick as well.

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

Not sure I how I found out
Deadheadnm (Pete) owned this truck
But it probably was how we first met
Mechanically it was on the money
I just painted the model

Ended up in Australia

The internet has done that
Many vehicles are no longer here
I guess these trucks have gone

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

Another one that’s long gone

Came from a flipper (which is where a lot of the good ones come from)
They are always looking
So often times they find them before you do

I made a deal over the phone
He even delivered it to me

I’ve had Supers twice in this color combo

In my opinion the ‘patina’
Or
‘Rusty paint’
Depending who you are talking too

Was very nice on this truck
